I sincerely feel sorry for the Indian cricket coach Greg Chappell. He should have never taken up this job of training an Indian team. Look at the Pakistani coach. Poor hit paid with his life. I am so surprised why the media is not fingers at the team. Or is it communal to make any allegations against the Pakistani team.
I cannot help but wonder why the media which shows all the gumption to make wild charges against Narendra Modi, even publish some page 3 macho man saying he will kill Modi if gets a gun, maintains this unseemly decency when it comes to Woolmer's death. Not that people on the street are making their own conclusions.
I have now stopped listening intently to the vox populi intently about Pakistani treachery when I travel by train or bus. People are very less magnanimous when it comes to accusations on the Pakistani team or what they feel about Sachin Tendulkar and his mates.
But having said all that I also feel the Indian cricket team epitomises us Indians when it comes to rudeness, superciliousness, arrogance, unprofessionalism and the incapacity to work towards a larger goal.
Our cricket team is also representative of the state of our country. We Indians are possibly the best in the world when it comes to self promotion and getting our place in the sun on a personal level. We are the most competitive in the world. We take pride in saying we are ingenious in breaking the rule, the law, evading taxes and everything unsavoury. But when it comes to running the country we are world's most pathetic people.
We don't realise if we should vote for Modi, Laloo, Arun Shourie, Dr Manmohan Singh, Chandra Babu Naidu, Yeshwant Sinha, AK Anthony and the likes for their economic agenda. Put your hand on your heart and say you would? I will bet my life you will not. Pray why? Ask Greg Chappell!
